Painting the town purple: Preparing for the Colorado Rockies’ opening day game
Today marks the Rockies home opener. As the crowd makes their way to the corner of 20th and Blake in LoDo there will be plenty of excitement filling the mile high air. Pregame festivities will feature live music outside the ballpark. After the game head to The Front Porch – it’s the second best looking bar in Denver! We look forward to a great weekend!
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, City Councilwoman Judy Montero, Public Works manager Jose Cornejo and the Public Works Traffic Engineering Services crew got to work on the 18-inch-wide purple stripe around 11 a.m yesterday. The painting team also added Colorado Rockies logos along Blake Street.
The water-based paint is not permanent and is not harmful tothe environment. The tradition of painting the purple stripe began in 1995.
